Gravity 2024
When the guys at Slammed UK moved their show to the Birmingham NEC for Gravity 2023 we knew it would be a big one… and it was. In fact, we’ve been one of the main supporters of the show since inception 8 years ago, and from humble beginnings it’s got bigger and bigger every year. A testament to both the organisers and the British modding scene.
So, no surprises then, that we’d be back for 2024 with a bigger stand than ever before, more top detailing products packing out our AirStream Mobile Store, and even a trio of monster drift cars ready to take a battering around the arena. Gravity, as it turns out is one of the biggest and best shows of the season here in the UK, if not the whole of Europe.
Obviously, our show preparation starts a day or so before at AFHQ in Harlow prepping and loading up a whole load of our AF Projects Fleet onto a massive car transporter. This year we included our recently rebuilt 1954 Chevy Pickup, our Pandem Yaris GR, two of our Caddy builds, our retro Datsun drift car and a whole load more to be displayed on our stand and around the show. But, as this is Gravity, we also decided to give our loyal followers the chance to get their hands on two of our newest products before they even hit our online store – our new look Detailers Kit Bag and our awesome Wash Box Buddy. These are just the thing for the show going faithful for many seasons to come, we think you’ll agree.
Anyway, after that it was just a case of getting them all up to Birmingham to set up and we were ready for what turned out to be quite the full-on weekender.
If you’ve been out and about this season, particularly at Ford Fair or Tucked At The Manor here in the UK (or maybe even Ultrace out there on the other side of Europe), you may have seen one of the most recent builds on our fleet – our Live To Offend kitted, 2JZ powered E36 BMW drift car. Let’s just say that Gravity was yet another opportunity to get it out for a spot of sideways action.
Laid on by the guys at Crew Sade the live action arena was one of our highlights last year, and even more so for 2024 because we got to get out there with a whole load of pro competition drifters. Joining the LTO BMW, which was piloted by James the boss of all things AF, was another member of Finesse Racing – Archie Sugar-Harmer in his AF sponsored CDK Racing E36 Pro Car. Both ended up wowing the crowds in a whole host of sessions over the course of the weekend.
In other words, and as you’d expect from Team AF, there was no messing about on the drift front and, even though our LTO E36 is like no other racer and put together to a more than show-worthy standard, James wasn’t afraid to drift it to destruction. After all, that’s what it’s built for. And we mean that too, he drifted it, broke a prop shaft, and then jumped in the Pro BMW to drift that too! Awesome, eh?
Don’t worry either, because the LTO E36 will be back out for the next show to munch through even more sets of tyres. That much you can count on.
Aside from the drifting which, again, was one of the biggest parts of the show for us, the stand was rammed all weekend long, it’s an understatement to say that this event was busy, it was nothing short of crazy. We hardly had a chance to get away from the AirStream for more than a few minutes!
As you’d expect from Gravity though, the static part of the show was just as cool, with a whole load of the cars of the highest standard. Here’s just a couple that caught our eye and some other highlights from the rest of the weekend…
So, Gravity was everything we had hoped, even if a moment of rest wasn't on the agenda for the whole two days. Suffice to say we loved it and we'll see you back here at the NEC for Gravity 2025. Keep an eye on their official site for updates.
In the meantime, thanks to everyone who came by the stand, and those who cheered us on in the drift arena. And, if you want to see more show reports, along with everything else going on in the world of AF, check out the Behind The Scenes Section Of Our Blog.
