The 8 fundamental stages of car detailing

Are you new to the world of car detailing, or maybe you've just bought your very first car? Either way we've got the best car care products and detailing essentials to keep your pride and joy in tip top condition all year round. There are eight fundamental stages to car detailing that transform a normal car wash into a detail which should be performed in the correct order. We’ve put these crucial processes together to help you quickly and easily carry out a safe and effective detail, whether it’s a weekly maintenance wash or a more extensive deep-clean and full detail.
Stage 1.

Wheels & Tyres

Every detail should start with wheel cleaning. Generally the grubbiest job, we always begin here to avoid cross-contamination of heavy contaminants. Our range of wheel care products are designed to deep cleanse, protect and finish your wheels.

Stage 2.

Pre-Wash

Every car wash should incorporate a thorough pre-wash before you make any contact. True detailers will tell you that this is one of the most important stages in the entire wash process. The pre-wash stage is designed to remove as much grit and grime as possible before moving on to the contact wash.

Stage 3.

Wash

The contact wash, or traditional car wash, is where we use a wash mitt, car shampoo and two detailing buckets to remove any remaining soiling from the car exterior. Our range of pure, powerful car cleaners and gentle-but-effective car shampoos are dedicated to getting and maintaining a swirl free finish.

Stage 4.

Decontamination

The stage where it really becomes car detailing. The 3-stage car paint decontamination process has been developed by detailing professionals to remove any bonded contaminants that washing alone cannot. If you carry out this step, it's important you polish and protect your paintwork after.

Stage 5.

Polish & Glaze

The polishing stage is where we refine paintwork to flawless after removing surfaces defects such as scratches and swirl marks. After polishing there’s also the option of using a paint glaze to deepen the look and obscure blemishes before adding protection.

Stage 6.

Wax & Protect

Here we seal-in and prolong the results from the polishing stage, creating a barrier to the elements and safeguarding the refined finish. In this stage we add surface protection to increase depth and gloss, and keep your car cleaner for longer.

Stage 7.

Interior Care

Your car interior will inevitably be exposed to all sorts of contamination during everyday driving. Our range of interior cleaning products are designed to cut through sticky spills, body oils, foodstuffs and fingerprints with ease, and on every interior surface and material. One of the most overlooked stages in detailing, but also one of the most important.

Stage 8.

Finish & Dress

The icing on the cake, those finishing touches you carry out to elevate the job. From glass cleaners and metal polishes to tyre and trim dressings, the icing on the cake is those finishing touches you carry out to complete the job. Let's not forget that detailing really is all about the details.
