With more and more people choosing to protect their paintwork and other exterior surfaces using Si02-based ceramic products we set our sights on developing the ultimate finishing spray to prolong their durability and hydrophobic performance, while intensifying their visual appearance. The idea of course, is to not only offer a quick and easy maintenance top up to use in the finishing stages at the end of every detail, but to ultimately to save you money along the way. By extending the life of the ceramic coating you already have on your paintwork, gloss plastics or vinyl wrap, you won’t have to re-coat your car prematurely. It really is that simple.

We started by revisiting the super-advanced SiO2 coating we use in our 12-month durable Caramics Paintwork Protection Kit. With the success of this extreme protection product and the other next-level ceramic protection products in our original range of Caramics Protection Kits, we looked at how we could infuse the same kind of advanced coating into an easy-to-use detailing spray that’s ideal for perfecting the finish of any painted surface by adding gloss and preforming light cleaning tasks such as removing water spots and fingerprints. In other words, we wanted a product just like a traditional quick detailer, a dedicated Caramics support product with the same application and finishing characteristics of our Finale Quick Detailer – which is a professional detailing staple in itself - but with a ceramic base rather than a carnauba-wax infusion.

The result of extensive testing and development is our Caramics Gloss Enhancer, the ultimate finisher for bringing your paintwork to a high gloss for the best visual impact while actively leaving behind a ceramic layer for long-lasting protection. In fact, this ultra-concentrated solution is so powerful, it’s not only proven to enhance and strengthen any previously-applied coating, but it’s capable of installing ceramic protection all on its own with nothing more than a spritz, wipe and buff.

But that’s not all, the tight-knit layer of surface molecules creates an extremely smooth surface that’s not just impenetrable to other foreign molecules and particulates, but actively stops them from clinging on. By preventing water and grime from physically taking hold you get extreme hydrophobic performance (enhanced water behaviour where any moisture simply beads on the surface or runs off) along with a surface that grit and dirt just can’t stick to. This is how a Si02-based coating can keep your car cleaner, and hence looking better, for longer.

Another product of the tight-knit Si02 layer on the top of your paintwork is acres of added gloss. Again, this is down to how the surface is essentially smoothed out by your ceramic coating. Creating a smoother surface reflects light back to the eye more uniformly, giving the appearance of depth and shine. In detailing we refer to using a product capable of ironing out the top surface as ‘levelling the optical finish’ and, even though they work slightly differently, it’s the same sort of effect you get from a car wax, glaze or a paint sealant. The idea is to fill any tiny ruts and ridges in the surface (which are bouncing light in different directions) to make the top layer more level and reflect the light in the same direction. In a similar way a car polish cuts through these defects to leave a smoother layer, giving you more shine before you add protection over the top.

A ceramic coating performs this task extremely well, giving you a slick, glossy surface. But, much like a adding another coat of wax, it is possible to intensify and enhance the gloss by adding another ceramic layer with your Caramics Gloss Enhancer. On a microscopic level the new ceramic layer chemically bonds to the previously applied one, making it thicker and stronger, giving yet more depth and shine from the light reflecting through it. The real difference with a ceramic product of course, is that the added Si02 layer will last much longer than the types of protection layers which can merely physically bond.

It goes without saying that ease of application was one of the key priorities when developing Caramics Gloss Enhancer. As we said, duplicating the characteristics of our carnauba wax-infused Finale Quick Detailer was the ultimate goal, aiming to create an advanced solution that’s one of our easiest-to-use ceramic protection products of all.

Caramics Gloss Enhancer is applied by spritzing a light mist across the surface, before spreading and buffing to a shine with a microfibre cloth. That’s all you need to perfect your paintwork and add more protection at the end of every detail.
