FlatSix At Goodwood 2024
FlatSix is a celebration of all things Porsche and, as regular followers of TeamAF will already know, we are huge fans of this particular German sportscar creator. We’ve even got one or two on the AF fleet right now, and there’s been many, many more over the years. Come to think of it, we hardly need any excuse to take a trip to Goodwood, either. It’s easily one of our favourite, not to mention one of the most prestigious, venues in the whole of the UK.
So, what could possibly be better than a Saturday afternoon at the FlatSix event? It’s a rhetorical question of course, because this gathering of the finest cars that Europe has to offer promises loads of showstoppers from both the water-cooled and air-cooled stables, one of the best historic circuits in the UK and, this time at least, a spot of early July sunshine (unlike at FlatSix 2023). Lovely!
This year our friends at the legendary JP Performance were also bringing over their rather epic 964 Turbo, and they asked if we’d help them out with getting this monster big-money build looking its best for the event – talk about draft in the experts, eh? Of course, we were only too happy to break out the best detailing products for our German chums.
So, there we are, and for once at least the show isn’t a million miles from the AF HQ in Essex, either. All that was needed was to load up our T2 Bus pop-up shop and get ourselves down to the south coast.
Of course, and as we said, there’s more than one Porsche on our fleet, so it goes without saying that we’d also be bringing along one of our very own to hit the circuit. After all, the hallowed track at Goodwood is one of the most famous pieces of tarmac on the world stage. And, as you can imagine, there was no way we’d be missing the opportunity of getting out there and representing TeamAF.
Driven up specifically for track duties was James’ modified 992 GTS, which is obviously something of a weapon when you get the space to fully open it up. There were certainly some healthy times put in over the course of the day with this one, that’s for sure.
One of the things we love the most about FlatSix is the sheer variety of cars on display. They may be all Porsches, but there’s just about every conceivable model and style represented, everything from standard classics and thoroughbred racecars, to full-on modified builds.
Trust us when we say that these are some of the most pampered cars out there, a very rare sight on the streets, and an even rarer sight when they’re all together like here at FlatSix. This show has quite the following nowadays and they certainly come from far and wide for this gathering. So, while we can’t possibly show you everything that caught our eye, here’s a few of our absolute favourites…
FlatSix 2024 may well have satisfied our Porsche cravings for the time being, but that doesn’t mean that this particular Saturday saw an end to the weekend for TeamAF. In fact, we had to get packed up sharpish and get ready for Tucked At The Manor 2024 the very next day!
As always though, we had a great time checking out a whole variety of Stuttgart’s finest here at the mighty Goodwood. So, thanks to everyone who made their way to the circuit to support the show, and an extra special thanks to all of those who came by our stand to pick up all your detailing essentials.
